Liverpool midfielder Fabinho isn’t worried by his former team-mate Tiemoue Bakayoko’s struggles in the Premier League and thinks Chelsea will see the best of him after his loan spell.

Bakayoko was shipped out on loan by the Blues this summer after a disappointing campaign under Antonio Conte last term.

He will play his football in Serie A with AC Milan in 2018/19 in the hope of impressing new boss Maurizio Sarri and earning a recall to Stamford Bridge.

Fabinho, who played alongside Bakayoko at Monaco, has now made the same move from Ligue 1 to England after signing for Liverpool in a £40million transfer.

But he doesn’t fear a similar fate to the Blues outcast and thinks Bakayoko’s first season in the Premier League wasn’t as bad as some people think.

“I don’t think he struggled that much,” Fabinho told Yahoo Sport UK. “I watched a few games and he seemed always good to me.

“Obviously, in your first season in a new club it’s always difficult and I wasn’t expecting him to leave, but AC Milan are getting a great player.

“I’m sure he’ll be able to prove how good he is and show what he did at Monaco. I’m sure if he comes back to England he will be stronger and will show everyone what he’s capable of.”

Bakayoko may never get the chance to return to Chelsea and prove the doubters wrong.

AC Milan are reported to have included a €35million purchase option in the agreement to take the player for one season.

Bakayoko made 29 Premier League appearances for Chelsea but missed out on a place in France’s squad for the World Cup in Russia as Les Bleus lifted the trophy.
