It’s fair to say Eddie Howe’s transfer business at Newcastle so far has been very successful. Indeed, the manager always seems to have one eye on the future, so signing Guler would fit in with his philosophy.

Howe’s team currently sit in third place in the Premier League table, after an unbelievably impressive season. As a result, they are beginning their preparations for Champions League football.

Indeed, Howe has made no secret that he wants to bring in some ‘elite’ players this summer. And, while Guler isn’t the finished article, he certainly has the potential to become a top player in the future.

Now, reports from Turkey (via Geordie Boot Boysclaim the Tynesiders have already held ‘preliminary talks’ with Guler’s family in Dubai, over the prospect of a summer move.

Newcastle plot sensational Guler coup

This season, Guler has made 30 appearances across all competitions for Fenerbahce. He has scored six goals and made four assists so far.

In particular, the youngster caught the eye in the Europa League. In one spectacular performance against Dynamo Kyiv, he contributed one goal and an assist and was arguably the best player on the pitch.

A versatile player, Guler can play as a winger on either flank, or as an attacking or central midfielder. So, he could provide cover in multiple areas for Howe next term.

Interestingly, The Magpies could sign Guler for just £4.3million if he fails to play 1500 minutes of game time this season.

But, if he does reach that threshold, which is now looking likely given Fenerbahce’s current cup run, the price would jump to £17.3million.

Howe is tipped to have funds to spend this summer, so, stumping up that fee shouldn’t be a problem.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Newcastle could push to sign two Fenerbahce youngsters this summer, with Ferdi Kadioglu on the Magpies’ radar, too.

With that in mind, it could be a very interesting summer for Newcastle fans as Howe looks to prepare his squad for the Champions League.

For now, though, the manager’s focus will be on securing a historic third place finish, with four games remaining in the season.
