A Newcastle player wanted by Liverpool and Chelsea is ‘fully aware’ of the transfer rumours, and their pursuits could result in him picking up a lucrative new contract.

Newcastle have several valuable assets now, mainly thanks to their wealthy owners but also down to Eddie Howe. Under the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, they have signed top stars like Sven Botman, Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.

Howe has also been influential in improving some of Newcastle’s existing crop of players. Miguel Almiron, Joelinton and Fabian Schar have all looked brilliant this season, despite struggling on Tyneside in the past.

Newcastle want to challenge the so-called ‘Big Six’ in the next few years, which explains the big spending. And they could achieve European qualification for next season after a solid start in the Premier League.

For now, though, Newcastle cannot offer their players Champions League or Europa League football. And this means top clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea want to sign one of their best stars.

According to transfer insider Simon Phillips, Bruno Guimaraes is on Chelsea’s four-man wish list to improve their midfield. And on Wednesday, Chelsea reportedly began talks with Guimaraes’ agent to see if a deal could be struck.

Liverpool joined the hunt for the midfield sensation on Thursday. As per TNT Sport in Brazil, Liverpool will finally bolster Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options and Guimaraes is high on their list of priorities.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea believe he would be a great addition to their respective squads.

The Brazilian has Champions League experience from his time at Lyon. And he has adapted brilliantly to the Premier League since moving to St James’ Park in the January transfer window.

Newcastle ace not entertaining exit proposals

Graeme Bailey of 90Min provides an update on the situation. He states Guimaraes’ representative, and in turn the player himself, are ‘fully aware’ of the interest coming from elsewhere.

He knows he could join one of England’s biggest clubs next summer. However, in a major boost for Newcastle fans, Guimaraes is not entertaining the proposals.

Newcastle and the 24-year-old ‘have no intention of parting company anytime soon’. The Magpies ‘are not worried’ by the reports as they are confident about keeping Guimaraes.

And the best way for them to do this is to offer him a new contract. His current deal runs until 2026, but they are already looking to extend it and offer him a pay rise.

In a fiery conclusion to the transfer saga, Liverpool and Chelsea bids look set to fall on deaf ears. And Guimaraes could then see his weekly wage rise from £120,000 to £200,000.

Newcastle’s current highest earner is vice-captain Kieran Trippier on £144k a week, but Guimaraes is close to eclipsing this figure.

It is no surprise Newcastle are willing to pay this much to keep hold of him. Guimaraes has been in sensational form this term, dominating the midfield alongside Joe Willock and Joelinton.

And Newcastle need to keep players of Guimaraes’ quality if they are to break into the top four any time soon.

The Rio de Janeiro-born star is already a fan favourite at Newcastle, but him rejecting Liverpool and Chelsea would make him even more loved there.

Meanwhile, a Liverpool star has revealed how a club icon has helped him to overcome his early setback at Anfield.
