HARTLEPOOL United are set to complete the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Joe White on loan until the end of the season which will be their third signing in as many days.

The 19-year-old is reportedly agreed to sign a new contract with the Magpies with his current deal set to run out at the end of the season. Premier League clubs had reportedly been monitoring his interest.

Head coach Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media today about potentially sending out Under-23 players on loan with Elliot Anderson another player tipped to be heading to an EFL side.

While other EFL sides had been hopeful of signing White on loan before next Monday's deadline, it's understood he will be heading to the Suit Direct Stadium.

Pools boss Graeme Lee said he would be busy negotiating last minute deals as the side make the long trip down to Exeter City for this weekend's League Two game.

White is yet to make a senior appearance this season for the Magpies but has played 13 times in Premier League 2 this season along with two appearances in the EFL Trophy for the Under-21’s. He’s also scored twice this season.

He has been in the Newcastle matchday squad three times this season sitting on the bench for two Premier League games against Manchester United and one against Manchester City.

White should become the fifth Pools signing of the January transfer window after Marcus Carver, Jake Hull, Issac Fletcher and Omar Bogle all joined the club this month.

It’s unlikely he will be available for tomorrow’s game at St James' Park.
