Newcastle United recovered from a goal down to beat Southampton 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at St Mary's Stadium.

The relegation struggle took a shock lead on the south coast after Jan Bednarek put Saints 1-0 up. But Alexander Isak rediscovered his goalscoring touch after a rare blank against Bournemouth last weekend to net the equaliser from the penalty spot.

Isak then secured his brace to put Eddie Howe's team ahead on the half-hour mark, with Southampton, who have won just once all season, getting that familiar sinking feeling. The Magpies then stretched their lead through Sandro Tonali early in the second-half to secure all three points.
