Newcastle United table NEW £35m offer for Bruno Guimaraes - Reports
REPORTS in France suggest Newcastle United have tabled an improved offer of around £35m for Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
The Magpies made an earlier offer yesterday, only for Lyon to issue a public statement denying they had reached an agreement over a fee for the Brazil international.
Talks have been ongoing over the last 24 hours, and L'Equipe are reporting that Newcastle have retured to the table with an improved bid that would involve a downpayment of around £35m.
It is also suggested that Newcastle's recruitment team, led by director Amanda Staveley, have also agreed to a series of potential add-ons as part of the deal that could potentially see them pay an additional £8m for Guimaraes.
At this stage, there has been no indication from the Newcastle camp as to whether the reports in France are accurate or not.
If Lyon give the green light to the transfer, Newcastle will attempt to stage a medical in South America tomorrow while finalising personal terms with Guimaraes and his representatives.
The midfielder is currently in Ecuador as part of the Brazilian squad that will play a World Cup qualifier late this evening.
