Three Premier League clubs are showing an interest in Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque, whose agent is working on a transfer, according to a report.

Ajorque has been with Strasbourg since 2018, scoring 50 goals from 138 games in that time. Now, though, the Ligue 1 outfit could be preparing for a future without him, despite him being their top scorer last season.

According to Football Insider, Strasbourg president Marc Keller has given the green light to Ajorque’s agent Mark McKay to find buyers for the 28-year-old, whose contract only runs until 2024.

The online outlet claims that the striker wants a Premier League transfer and three clubs could grant him his wish. Indeed, there is interest from Newcastle United, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

The suitors could watch Ajorque when Strasbourg face Liverpool at Anfield this weekend for a pre-season match. He will be hoping it goes as well as his last cameo against an English side, having scored a brace against Brentford.

No asking price is mentioned for Ajorque. He only cost Strasbourg a fee believed to be under £2million when he originally joined them from Clermont Foot.

Previous reports have claimed his value may be around £10m more than that now.

Now, the Premier League could be on the horizon. Each of his three admirers want to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes.

Ludovic Ajorque could get first Premier League chance

Newcastle United added Chris Wood to their squad in January but have been looking into an additional attacking signing. Another Ligue 1 target, Hugo Ekitike, slipped from their grasp.

Elsewhere, Leicester City are aware Jamie Vardy isn’t getting any younger and may need some more options – along with Patson Daka or Kelechi Iheanacho – for when he isn’t available.

And Crystal Palace have a few options up front but only Wilfried Zaha hit double figures for them last season. What’s more, someone like Christian Benteke has been linked with a departure from Selhurst Park.

Ajorque was also previously linked with West Ham United, but there is no mention of them now – presumably because they are set to sign Gianluca Scamacca from Serie A side Sassuolo instead.

Hence, it could be a three-horse race between Newcastle, Leicester and Crystal Palace to bring Ajorque to the Premier League. Born in the French overseas territory of Reunion, he has only ever represented clubs in France – perhaps until soon.

Standing at 1.97m (6ft 5in) tall, he would bring a presence to the frontline he joins. Only time will tell where he ends up this summer or if he stays with Strasbourg. The signs seem to be pointing towards a transfer.
