Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on developments regarding Fulham’s former Manchester City centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, according to a report.

Adarabioyo was a key player in Fulham’s Championship title win last season. The defender started 41 of their 46 games in the second tier. It represented the most productive season of his career so far.

After coming through Manchester City’s academy, Adarabioyo spent time with West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers before joining Fulham in 2020. He has settled well at Craven Cottage.

However, there is now a risk that he could have played his last game for the club. Fulham only have him under contract for one more season, so may have to sell this summer unless he renews his deal.

With that in mind, the Daily Mirror have revealed that Newcastle are keeping tabs on Tosin’s situation.

According to their report, Eddie Howe wants to keep building an English core as his Newcastle project develops. There is a desire to sign another centre-back, so Adarabioyo fits the bill.

He could become the main partner to January arrival Dan Burn at the back if they turn their attention away from Lille centre-half Sven Botman. The Dutchman also gets a mention in the Mirror‘s report, so perhaps there is a chance both could join.

Newcastle certainly have the funds to sign multiple players after last year’s Saudi-backed takeover. But they are aiming to improve gradually and sustainably, so their summer approach will be interesting to observe.

Tosin Adarabioyo a timely target for Newcastle United

A deal for Adarabioyo would likely not cost an extortionate amount. Therefore, he could be one to keep an eye on unless Fulham can keep him around for their top-flight return.

The 24-year-old has been linked with Newcastle in the past. If he wants to take the next step in his career, they could be a good landing spot.

Newcastle seem to be heading in an upwards trajectory and so is Tosin. It may finally be the moment for their paths to cross.

What’s more, the chance to add to their homegrown quotas will always be welcomed by a Newcastle side who could add talent from around the world in the months and years to come.

Therefore, Adarabioyo is someone Howe would seemingly like to work with – and it may be a smart move for all concerned.
