William Buick is aware of the pressure on Charlie Appleby's Native Trail as favourite for the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday but hopes he will keep "coming up with the goods".

It is quite the weight to have 14 of the most promising three-year-old colts and multiple Derby entries behind him in the betting but little fazes the Champion Jockey elect.

The unbeaten colt has the perfect prep run with a win over course and distance on the Rowley Mile in the Craven Stakes earlier this month.

The son of Oasis Dream had already won the not unsubstantial National Stakes and the Dewhurst.

A win for Buick and Appleby in the 2000 Guineas would be a first for both jockey and trainer.

Buick doesn't seem bothered by Native Trail's wide draw from stall 15 and is confident in his mount's unblemished record "He has done nothing wrong. He has come through this year and produced in the Craven.

"He was always a nice horse physically and when he won first time out at Sandown, you knew you had a nice horse on your hands, but he took every step that was asked of him in his stride and everything you asked of him, he just keeps coming up with the goods. "There is no point in looking back - he has to go and do it as a three-year-old."

The 33-year-old jockey, who appears to be just hitting his peak, has no qualms about Native's Trail's ability to handle the pressure and the crowd at Newmarket pre-race, given his bloodline and the general professionalism of virtually all of Godolphin's runners.

"He has a solid temperament," added Buick. "He is a solid professional and loves his work. He is a horse who has plenty of confidence. He is very straightforward and very professional. On the track and at home, he just goes about his business. "He has a long stride and a very high cruising speed. He also has a turn of foot, which he showed last year and in the Craven." The QIPCO 2000 Guineas takes place at Newmarket racecourse on Saturday, April 30 and starts at 15.40
