DeGale will meet the Frenchman in his first bout for his new promoters Hennessy Sports on October 13th at Bluewater’s Glow centre.

Tyson Fury, Chris Eubank Jnr and Kid Galahad are also due to fight on the televised card.

Purdy, meanwhile, who ended the unbeaten run of Gumersindo Carrasco in impressive fashion underneath Tony Bellew and Edison Miranda at Alexandra Palace, defends the title he won against the Argentine against Jones, who narrowly lost to Kell Brook in the summer.

American Jones gave ‘Special K’ his toughest test yet only to lose on points and will provide a step up for the in-form Colchester resident.

“I took my chance against Carrasco with style and I plan to do the same against Jones,” said Purdy.

“He fights a bit like me, loves to have a tear-up and I think this could be a great fight, and if I win it I’ll am likely to move into the top five of the IBF.”

“I honestly cannot believe he wants to fight me considering what I did to one of his stable mates,” said Jones, ranked seventh at welterweight by the IBF.

“But I am glad to fight back in UK and think I am on my way to becoming the UK’s favourite new adopted son.

“I hadn’t heard of Purdy until the fight was offered. I think his style is perfectly suited for me and I will go in there and take him out.”
