NFL: Player faces seven years in jail - for barking at police dog

In a story that has to be read to be believed, Armstrong is under investigation for goading the K-9 as he made his way onto the pitch before the Raiders' match against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The linebacker is said to have raised his jersey and banged his chest in the direction of the pooch while shouting 'Hey dog, hey dog'.

Taunting a police dog is a felony three in Pennsylvania and carries a maximum punishment of $15,000 and seven years in jail.

And the police are not impressed. Really not impressed.

This is what Bandit's handler Maria Watts, had to say:

"He wanted me to let him go," Watts said. "I imagine with his training and experience he would have gone to his target who was taunting him. I don't want to speculate on what he would have done.

"No-one in the department, from the sheriff down, is happy about this."
