NFL betting: Public money says Cardinals will upset Rams in a high-scoring affair

The final matchup of wild card weekend kicks off tonight between the Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams. Much like the referee at the end of yesterday's Niners-Cowboys game, both of these teams stumbled into the postseason. The Rams went 5-4 down the stretch after starting the year 7-1, while Arizona opened with a perfect 7-0 record but lost six of their last 10 games, including four of their last five. Los Angeles may be the 3.5-point home favorite, but the Cardinals are 6-0 as underdogs this season and 8-1 on the road.

Bettors are ignoring Arizona coach Kliff Kingsbury's 1-5 record versus Sean McVay's Rams, as 75% of money pours in on the Cardinals moneyline (+160 on BetMGM). In addition to an Arizona victory, the public expects a wild west shootout in the wild card game. Sixty-seven percent of all tickets on the point total are rooting for the over, which has dropped from its opening line of 50.5 down to 49.5.

Public also betting on Arizona player props

The three most bet props on BetMGM are more Cardinal-centric than Vatican City. Running back James Conner to score the game's first touchdown (+800) and to score a touchdown any time in the contest (+115) are the two most popular prop bets. Conner, who is fresh off a rib injury, has scored in 11 of his last 13 appearances and recorded the third-most touchdowns in the NFL this year (18).

Quarterback Kyler Murray to gain more than 38.5 rushing yards (-115) is the third-most bet player prop. He's only achieved this in five of 14 games this season, but has hit it in four of his last six.
