NFL Draft 2017: New Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky explains his 'Go Packers' tweet

The Bears traded up for a quarterback who rooted for the Packers.

The Bears surprised everyone in the NFL Draft when they moved up a single spot from No. 3 overall to No. 2 overall and selected North Carolina product Mitchell Trubisky. Bears fans weren't too thrilled about the addition of the quarterback, and a particular tweet of his didn't ease their pain.

During the famous "Dez caught it" game between the Packers and Cowboys in 2015, Trubisky was rooting for Green Bay.

So what's the deal with that tweet? He provided a brief explanation to the Chicago media shortly after being drafted.

"I was never a Packers fan," he said, via the Chicago Tribune. "I don't know when that tweet is from. It was probably one specific game. I'm a Chicago Bear now, so none of that matters."

Trubisky had another unfortunate tweet make the rounds Thursday night, which he eventually deleted.

The lesson of the night is if you're a world-class athlete, it's probably best to just delete all of your old tweets to avoid embarrassment.
