There will be no 0-16 team in the NFL this season. With their upset win over the Jets in Week 13, the Bengals notched their first victory of the year. Combined with the Giants' loss to the Packers on Sunday, though, Cincinnati's win jeopardized its chances of landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Of course, the Bengals likely will be underdogs in each of their four games remaining this season, including their Week 16 matchup against the equally hapless Dolphins. Speaking of Miami, it randomly upset Philadelphia in Week 13 and slipped to the No. 4 position in the NFL Draft order due to a strength of schedule tiebreaker with Washington.
If the Dolphins are planning to draft a quarterback with their first-rounder in 2020, they might be fine falling behind the Redskins in the order. Washington also won Sunday, an upset in Carolina, and Dwayne Haskins' apparent improvement is a development that could keep the Redskins out of the QB hunt early in the draft.
Below is the updated NFL Draft order for 2020 through Sunday's Week 13 games.
NFL Draft order 2020
New York Giants
New York Jets
Los Angeles Chargers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(via 6-6 Bears)
(via 7-5 Rams)
(The teams slotted in Pick Nos. 21-32 are currently in the NFL playoff picture.)
In Sporting News' latest NFL mock draft for 2020, the Bengals indeed land Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick.
9. New York Jets 4-8
"Offensive-minded coach Zac Taylor needs a franchise passer with Ryan Finley quickly proving he is not the answer behind Andy Dalton," SN's Vinnie Iyer writes. "Burrow has enjoyed a meteoric rise as the Heisman Trophy favorite and appealing top QB prospect in this class."
The Giants at No. 2 overall land Ohio State defensive end Young to boost their pass rush.
If their place in the order were to stick, and if the Bengals were to select Burrow, the Dolphins likely would have their choice of the quarterbacks, from Oregon's Justin Herbert to Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts to Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa. Our latest mock has them going with Tua.
