Ahead of Thursday night's 2023 NFL draft, top defensive tackle prospect Jalen Carter is confident that if he is still available at No.10 then the Philadelphia Eagles will turn their card in.

The Georgia star made headlines when he decided to slam the door on making any visits to teams not picking in the top 10. The feeling at time is that Carter's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was trying to convince teams that his client has to go early or that he already knows that will come to fruition on Thursday night in Kansas.

Currently picking at No.10 are last year's Super Bowl runners-up the Eagles, assuming that risk-taking GM Howie Roseman does not trade up or down.

And when asked whether he's had a "promise" from the Eagles that they'll take him at No. 10, Carter replied: "Yes sir." However, the majority of mock drafts don't have Carter sliding past pick five, where the Seattle Seahawks are the strong favourites to take the disruptive tackle.

That would mean Roseman having to trade up five spots, which would likely cost the Eagles some significant draft capital. To that end, there is more chance that Philly stays put and either plays a waiting game to see if Carter is still on the board or they will likely make a move for outstanding Texas Longhorns running-back Bijan Robinson instead. In fact, the only way Carter starts to slide is red flags over his reported off-field behaviour. But whoever takes the Georgia DT, assuming his alleged off-field issues are settled, will be getting a true cornerstone player on their defence.
