NFL-National Football League roundup

Oct 29 (The Sports Xchange) - The Jacksonville Jaguars fired offensive coordinator Greg Olson on Saturday and promoted quarterbacks coach Nathanile Hackett to replace him. The moves came three days after a lopsided 36-22 loss to the Tennessee Titans in which quarterback Blake Bortles appeared to further regress in the first half before putting up huge numbers against a soft defense in the second. Failure to consistently generate rushing yards has not helped. Thursday night, owner Shad Khan said he was not making a change at head coach. Head coach Gus Bradley is 14-41 in his four seasons with the Jaguars. The Jaguars' embarrassing performance on Thursday night included a 27-0 halftime score -- the Titans had 354 yards at that point to Jacksonville's 60 -- in which the players appeared to quit on their coach. - - - Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson was placed on injured reserve and Juwan Thompson was promoted from the practice squad to add depth at the position. Anderson underwent an arthroscopic procedure to repair meniscus damage in his right knee. A timetable for his return hasn't yet been determined but the decision to place him on injured reserve means he would have to miss at least eight games. Rookie Devontae Booker will start Sunday's contest against the San Diego Chargers. - - - The Buffalo Bills promoted cornerback Marcus Roberson from their practice squad. Roberson, who played 16 games for the Rams last season, is expected to contribute on special teams. The Bills had a roster spot open after the team promoted tight end Gerald Christian on Friday and released wide receiver Ed Eagan and tight end Manasseh Garner. - - - The New England Patriots added to their running back corps ahead of Sunday's trip to Buffalo by signing Tyler Gaffney to the 53-man roster off the practice squad. Gaffney, 25, spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons on injured reserve and has yet to make his NFL debut in a regular-season game. (Editing by Andrew Both)
