The Green Bay Packers have endured a dramatic few months since the end of the 2021/22 season. After Aaron Rodgers toyed with the idea of retiring or leaving, the 38-year-old has now pledged his future to Green Bay with a three-year contract extension. But while the Packers will enjoy three more years of Rodgers, they'll be without star receiver Davante Adams after trading him for the No.22 and No.53 picks in this year's Draft.

It was a surprise to many, including Rodgers, but the Green Bay quarterback was still in a positive mood despite the offloading of his WR1. "It's a tough business, it's a wonderful profession. Those of us who have been playing for so long realise that completely. "There's a lot of things that happen that surprise you, even still. I thought that based on the number that we offered Davante and being able to play with me for a few more years would make a difference, but in the end I think he was ready to move on and wanted my help in making that happen. "It was a tough position to be in, for sure, because I love him and I care about him and I want him to be happy, and he's definitely going to be missed." However, the surprises continued at Green Bay, after they failed to replace Adams with either of their early Draft picks.

They used the 22nd selection to add Georgia linebacker Quay Walker, and with their 28th pick opted for fellow Bulldog Devonte Wyatt, bolstering a defense that lost Za'Darius Smith to the rival Vikings this offseason.

But while Rodgers has previously been critical of the franchise's draft selections, Rodgers urged fans to have "faith" in the project. "I'm sure Packer nation will be wondering why we didn't take a receiver or trade up," Rodgers said. "But at this point, you've just got to have some faith in the organization and faith that whoever we bring in tomorrow and the rest of this draft, I'm going to put in the time to make it work with those guys and we're going to find a way in Matt (LaFleur)'s offense to be successful - like we always have. "It's not going to be any different this year, we're going to be in the mix."
