NFL owners chipped in millions to fund President Trump’s inauguration events

They were a few of many sports figures who donated large sums of money to President Trump’s inaugural festivities.

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder was amongmany high-rolling sports figures to contribute to President Donald Trump's inaugural festivities, includingsix other NFL owners who donated $1 million,The Washington Post reported, citing aFederal Election Commission filing it obtained.

The Republican presidentraised a record $107 million overall.

The Kraft Group (Patriots) and Jerry Jones’s Glenstone Limited Partnership (Cowboys) also made $1 million donations on the same day as Snyder.Rams owner Stanley Kroenke, Jaguars owner Shad Khan, Jets owner Woody Johnson and Texans owner Bob McNair all made $1 million donations on different dates, according to the FEC filing.

Snyder's donation could come with an incentive. The Redskins are looking for their next home, andWashington Mayor Muriel E. Bowser recentlyasked Trump for approvalto make major upgrades at theRFK Stadium site.

Trump, unlike theObama administration, is in favor of allowing Washington to keepthe maligned Redskins nickname. He evenran an adappealing to fanswho oppose a name change.
