Dec 6 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of National Hockey League games on Monday: Penguins 8, Senators 5 Bryan Rust had his first career hat trick and Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel each had a goal and two assists as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Ottawa Senators 8-5 in a goal-fest. Sidney Crosby, Matt Cullen and Justin Schultz also scored for Pittsburgh, which won its third straight. Ottawa had been 5-1-1 in its previous seven games. Bruins 4, Panthers 3 (overtime) David Pastrnak scored a spectacular goal in overtime, giving the Boston Bruins their third straight victory, a 4-3 result over the Florida Panthers. Pastrnak, scoring his second goal of the game and 15th of the season, broke around defenseman Michael Matheson, got goaltender Roberto Luongo down on the ice and flipped the puck home, handing Florida its first loss in six overtime decisions on the season. Capitals 3, Sabres 2 (overtime) Marcus Johansson scored in overtime to cap a two-goal performance as the Washington Capitals rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Johansson's slap shot snapped a three-game losing streak for the Capitals. The final tally came after he tipped a John Carlson perimeter shot in for the tying goal with 6:18 left in the third period. Blue Jackets 4, Coyotes 1 Sam Gagner recorded two goals and two assists, and the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Arizona Coyotes for the 500th victory in franchise history.
