(Adds late game) Dec 12 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Saturday's National Hockey League games. - - Canadiens 3, Senators 1 The Montreal Canadiens jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in a 3-1 win over the Ottawa Senators at the Bell Centre. The win snapped Montreal's four-game losing streak. Brian Flynn, Max Pacioretty and Jeff Petry scored for Montreal. - - Capitals 2, Lightning 1 The Washington Capitals bounced back from a rare loss, jumping out early on the Tampa Bay Lightning and holding on for a 2-1 victory at Amalie Arena. Goaltender Braden Holtby stopped 34 Tampa Bay shots as Washington (20-6-2) beat the Lightning (14-13-3) for the second time in 15 days. What ended up the winning goal was a highlight-reel trick of a shot, with Evgeny Kuznetsov fooling Tampa Bay goalie Ben Bishop by looping around the net but scoring from behind him inside the near post in the second period. - - Islanders 3, Blue Jackets 2 (overtime) Kyle Okposo scored two goals, including the overtime winner, to lead the New York Islanders to a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets in Nationwide Arena. Okposo, who also had the primary assist on the Islanders' third goal, scored at 2:16 of overtime to extend their point streak to nine games (7-0-2) - - Bruins 3, Panthers 1 Ryan Spooner scored two twice to lead Boston to a 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers. - - Sabres 2, Kings 1 (overtime) Ryan O'Reilly scored 3:19 into overtime to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings. On the game winner, O'Reilly faked a shot from the left circle, sending Kings defenseman Alec Martinez to the ice. O'Reilly then cut inside and lifted a hard wrist shot into the left corner of the net while falling to the ice. Jamie McGinn also scored for the Sabres (12-15-3) while goalie Linus Ullmark made 20 saves. - - Avalanche 3, Predators 2 The Colorado Avalanche started a three-game road trip against a Central Division rival on Saturday night with a solid outing by goalie Semyon Varlamov. Making 34 saves, including 13 in the third period, Varlamov backstopped Colorado to a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators at sold-out Bridgestone Arena. - - Blues 3, Stars 0 David Backes scored one goal and assisted on another, and goalie Jake Allen posted his fourth shutout of the season, to carry the St. Louis Blues to a 3-0 win over the Dallas Stars. The loss was only the second in regulation for the Stars since Nov. 10 and snapped a seven-game streak of earning at least one point, having gone 5-0-2 during that stretch. - - Hurricanes 5, Coyotes 4 (overtime) Carolina center Victor Rask scored 53 seconds into overtime to give the Hurricanes a 5-4 victory over the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena on Saturday. Rask weaved into center ice and put his ninth goal of the season past Anders Lindback, giving Carolina their fourth victory in five games. - - Flames 5, Rangers 4 (overtime) The Calgary Flames survived a New York Rangers rally on Saturday and won 5-4 on T.J. Brodie's goal at 2:09 of overtime. The Rangers came back from a 4-1 deficit in the third period and forced overtime with a power play goal with 1:12 left when a point-shot went in off Mats Zuccarello. - - Wild 2, Sharks 0 Zach Parise broke a scoreless tie early in the third period and the Minnesota Wild extended the San Jose Sharks' losing streak to six games with a 2-0 win at SAP Center. Parise scored his team-leading ninth goal at 4:41 when he was isolated one-on-one against San Jose goalie Martin Jones. (Editing by Peter Rutherford)
