NHL-National Hockey League roundup

Jan 14 (The Sports Xchange) - Boston Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller left Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers after suffering an injury midway through the second period. With 11:32 to go in the period, Miller and Flyer forward Jakub Voracek raced for a puck deep in the Boston zone. Miller arrived first and Voracek hit him hard into the end boards. Miller went down immediately and required a trainer's assistance to get to the bench and down the tunnel for treatment. Voracek was given a five-minute major penalty for boarding on the play. Miller, 29, has appeared in 26 of the last 27 games after being scratched for the first 19 of the season. He played in only 41 games last season after suffering a shoulder injury. -- The Nashville Predators placed defenseman Roman Josi and forward Colin Wilson on injured reserve. Josi sustained an upper-body injury in the first period of Thursday's 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins. Josi has played in all 42 games for the Predators this season, earning 22 points (five goals, 17 assists). Wilson, who hasn't played since Jan. 6, missed three games because of a lower-body injury. He has six goals and 11 assists in 38 games this season and is tied for second on the team with three power-play goals. -- The Toronto Maple Leafs recalled goaltender Garret Sparks from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Sparks, 23, owns a 5-5-0 record with a 2.04 goals-against average and .925 save percentage in 10 games with the Marlies this season. In 17 appearances with the Maple Leafs in 2015-16, Sparks posted a 6-9-1 record with a 3.02 goals-against average and .893 save percentage. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning reassigned forward Matthew Peca to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. Peca, 23, appeared in nine games with the Lightning this season, recording one goal, one assist and two penalty minutes. Peca, who skated in 28 games with the Crunch this season, registering five goals, 12 assists and four penalty minutes, was originally drafted by the Lightning in the seventh round of the 2011 NHL draft.
