Feb 6 (The Sports Xchange) - Pittsburgh Penguins forward Carl Hagelin has been sidelined with a concussion. Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said Monday that Hagelin is in the league's concussion protocol, the result of a hit he absorbed from Alexander Steen of the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. The 28-year-old Hagelin has six goals and 19 points in 51 games for Pittsburgh, which also is missing forwards Evgeni Malkin and Conor Sheary due to injury. Malkin, who was sidelined four games due to a lower-body injury, practiced in a non-contact jersey Monday but will not be ready for Tuesday's game against Calgary. - - - The Buffalo Sabres claimed forward Derek Grant off waivers from the Nashville Predators. The Sabres then assigned Grant to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
