NHL-National Hockey League roundup

Nov 27 (The Sports Xchange) - Bruins defenseman John-Michael Liles left the game with an upper-body injury in the first period against the Tampa Bay Lightning after sliding head first into the end boards. Liles was killing a penalty five minutes into the game, had ventured deep into the Lightning zone and appeared to trip over the stick of goaltender Ben Bishop and slid hard into the boards. Liles lay motionless on his back for more than a minute before help arrived. He was helped to his feet and then off the ice -- going right to the Bruins dressing room. The team announced in the second period that Liles would not return. -- The Dallas Stars recalled defenseman Stephen Johns from the Texas Stars of the AHL. Johns, 24, recorded two goals and two assists in 16 games for Dallas this season. He currently leads the team with 44 hits and ranks fourth with 32 blocked shots. -- The Buffalo Sabres recalled forward William Carrier from AHL Rochester. Carrier, 21, rejoins the Sabres after being assigned to Rochester for Saturday's game against the Albany Devils, in which he recorded an assist. He registered three goals and two assists in eight AHL games this season, and appeared in 11 games for the Sabres in his first NHL season, tallying one goal and 17 shots. -- The Washington Capitals reassigned forward Paul Carey to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League on Sunday. Carey, 28, made his 2016-17 season debut with the Capitals on Nov. 20 against Columbus. He appeared in four games with Washington last season and scored the game-tying goal -- his first in the NHL -- in the third period on Feb. 6 at New Jersey. Carey recorded 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 16 games with Hershey this season. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
