Nieto, a 24-year-old left wing who joined the Avalanche off waivers on Jan. 5 and played the final 43 games of his season with the team, avoided arbitration and will make $1 million next season, Sportsnet reported. -- Defenseman Mark Streit is joining the Montreal Canadiens on a one-year deal, the team announced. The Canadiens did not disclose the value of the deal, but multiple reports claim it is worth $700,000. Streit, 39, spent the 2016-17 season with the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, totaling six goals and 21 assists for 27 points in 68 games last season.
