NHL Three Stars: Dallas scores seven; Canucks blank Predators

No. 1 Star: Jamie Benn, Dallas Stars

The Stars captain scored a goal and notched two assists in a 7-6 win over the New York Rangers. It was the first time the Stars had scored seven goals in a road game since Nov. 14, 2013. Benn now has 10 points in his last eight games and 38 points in 42 games this season. The Stars have given up 15 goals in their last three games, a stretch where they have gone 1-2-0.

No. 2 Star: Ryan Miller, Vancouver Canucks

Miller continued his recent resurgence with a 30-save shutout of the Nashville Predators in a 1-0 win. The victory by Vancouver broke a four-game losing skid and helped them improve to 48 points – tied with the Los Angeles Kings for the final Western Conference Wild Card spot though the Kings have two games in hand. Miller moved to 13-10-3 with a 2.54 goal-against average and .917 save percentage. His two shutouts this season have come in January.

No. 3 Star: Marian Hossa, Chicago Blackhawks

Hossa notched three assists and was a plus-4 in the Blackhawks’ 6-4 win over the Colorado Avalanche. Chicago was down 4-3 entering the third period before they scored three unanswered goals. Hossa assisted on the game-winner and with his first assist, Hossa hit 600 for his career. The Blackhawks are now tied with the Minnesota Wild for most points in the Central Division at 61 – though the Wild have four games in hand on the Blackhawks.
