NI golf course ranked second in most Instagrammable in UK and Ireland

A recent study has uncovered the most Instagrammable golf courses in the UK and Ireland. BoyleSports created the list, which saw courses ranked by the number of geo-tagged posts on the social media site.

We boast some of the best courses in the world, and many players love capturing their rounds on camera and then sharing their snaps to Instagram.

The top seven on the list feature the likes of Sunningdale, Royal St George's and Trump Turnberry.

One Northern Ireland course features on the list, and fans won[t be surprised to hear it's Royal County Down. Nestled in the shadows of the Mournes, the links course in Newcastle is widely regarded as one of the best courses in world golf.

It's popularity is punctuated by the number of visitors who play the course every year, and the 29.8k Instagram posts that have captured its beauty.

However, despite its global appeal, there is one course that stands alone when it comes to being picture perfect on social media.

The Old Course at St Andrews earned a staggering 81k Instagram posts.

Boylesports said: "Topping the list is the legendary Old Course at St Andrews, amassing an impressive 81,000 tagged posts, followed closely by Royal County Down and Trump Turnberry. These courses not only offer world-class golfing but also breathtaking scenery, making them perfect spots for capturing and sharing on social media.

"Not far behind are Royal St George's and Sunningdale, two courses with storied histories and landscapes that blend beautifully into the natural countryside."

When compiling this list, BoyleSports analysed the most frequently geo-tagged posts on Instagram. For each course, the number of geo-tagged posts was counted, revealing the destinations with the highest Instagram presence.

This ranking highlights the destinations that combine golfing excellence with Instagrammable landscapes.
