Nice star left 'disgusted' by Rangers hammering as Europa League horrorshow triggers major apology
Badredine Bouanani has said he was "disgusted" with his side's performance, as they were humbled by Rangers.
Philippe Clement's men ran riot on the French Riviera on matchday five of the Europa League, with Hamza Igamane's brace and strikes from Vaclav Cerny and Mohamed Diomande having the Ibrox club 4-0 up less than 10 minutes into the second-half, as they put their domestic woes behind them. And talented teen Bouanni, who grabbed a late consolation for the hosts with a stunning free kick, refused to echo his boss by blaming the result on their lengthy injury list.
The French club's manager, Franck Haise, complained after the game that they couldn't cope with Rangers because they had 12 players out through injury. But 19-year-old Algeria cap Bouanani reckons they should still have done better, admitting: "We are all really disgusted with that performance. We played a very bad match and we gave Rangers a lot of gifts for the goals.
"It's definitely a match to forget for us. We would like to apologise to the supporters of the club.
"But need to lift ourselves for our next match against Lyon this weekend. Can we put this defeat down to the absent injured players? No. We can't use that as an excuse because we have a big squad. and I think we have a quality group. And it is also up to the replacements to do better."
