Nick Kyrgios pulls out of French Open with 'illness' after slating clay court

Controversial Australian star Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the French Open.

Kyrgios’ withdrawal was confirmed just two days before his scheduled first round match against British number two Cameron Norrie.

Norrie, 23, will now face a lucky loser or a qualifier in his Roland Garros opener.

BBC Sport report that Kyrgios has pulled out the tournament due to illness.

The news comes days after the mercurial Aussie said the clay court Grand Slam ‘sucks’.

24-year old Kyrgios was preparing for the tournament at Wimbledon with Andy Murray before posting a bizarre rant slamming the surface in Paris.

“Get rid of the clay, man. Who likes the clay? It is so bad,” his post read.

“The fact that I am here right now and I have to go to Paris in a couple of days.

“The French Open sucks compared to this place. Sucks. Absolutely sucks.”

Last week, the fiery Kyrgios was defaulted and fined during his second-round Italian Open match against Casper Ruud after throwing a chair onto the court during a tantrum.
