Tennis star Nick Kyrgios puts his pride and joy BMW up for sale on Facebook ahead of Davis Cup tie

Nick Kyrgios puts his pride and joy BMW up for sale on social media - but gets mixed response

When it comes to being conventional, Nick Kyrgios doesn't exactly fit the mould.

The controversial, tweener-loving Australian isn't afraid of going against the grain on the court and he adopts the same approach to life off it.

As the world No 16 prepares for this weekend's Davis Cup tie against America, Kyrgios has posted on his social media accounts.

Nothing unusual about that you might think. After all, Kyrgios enjoys nothing more than to share his victories, defeats, ups and downs with his 200k plus followers.

But the 21-year-old has now turned salesman as he tries to find a buyer for his pride and joy BMW and asked fans to message him offers.

Obviously, the responses weren't all to Kyrgios' liking.

One follower offered him $6,000 before the Australian quirked: "I'll send you the petrol tank lid."

Another replied that he should be "concentrating on tennis only", to which Kyrgios said: "Thanks Dad".

Someone else who commented: “Someone needs money for the clay season’s travel” was quickly informed: “Semis of Miami paid 280k US – probably not mate.”

The post has received over 2,500 comments since being posted yesterday afternoon and also saw a number of car companies keen to sell his beloved vehicle on his behalf.

Nick Kyrgios and convention don't go hand-in-hand

Among the car’s qualities listed, Kyrgios' advert read: “1 owner… meticulously cared for, regularly serviced, paint protect, only 16,000km, near new tyres, immaculate car, bone leather interior.”

Kyrgios has been winning over new-found respects for his strong showings at Indian Wells and the Miami Open over the last month.

He is now preparing to take on John Isner in the second rubber of Australia's quarter-final Davis Cup tie with America in Brisbane on Friday.

"I'm looking forward to getting back here and having some home support," Kyrgios, who had to deal with a hostile crowd when he lost to Roger Federer in the Miami semi-finals last week said.

"I feel comfortable playing second. I'll be out there for some of Thommo's (Jordan Thompson) match and I think it's a good match up with him against (Jack) Sock."
