Nick Walsh gets Rangers red card amid Hotline fury as Mohamed Diomande cock-up sparks angry backlash
Mohamed Diomande is back in the game after getting his Tannadice sending off thrown in the bin.
But as Celtic geared up for Champions League action against Aston Villa, raging Rangers fans on the Hotline want whistler Nick Walsh to be shown the red card. Alan Milligan, via email, said: “Now that it has been proved that he is incompetent, Nick Walsh should be demoted to the amateur ranks to learn his trade.”
Stuart McLeod, Stepps, said: “After another shambles surrounding Diomande's red card being rescinded and probably another disingenuous apology on the way, the SFA should be looking closer to home. The SFA were out within an hour of the match finishing with a statement backing Nick Walsh. Can anyone tell me when a statement has been released before the appeal process has been heard? A clear effort was being made to prejudice the case. Not fit for purpose, found out time and again yet somehow still hold office.”

Robert Forrest emailed “Another ridiculous decision against Rangers Perhaps one the resident Celtic men on the Hotline could tell us the last bad decision went against their team. I should add I am only 77 years old so I may have missed it.”
Scott McAdam, Glasgow, said: “Rangers have a right cheek. Diomande had this coming for weeks. In two games against Celtic, all he did was kick and elbow his way through it. So it's long before time the shoe is on the other foot.”
Celtic have brought back Jota and have lined up Kieran Tierney, but Gers fan Alan Flett said: “It's years of Rangers' failure and a league full of dross that's got you lot to where you are, not you biscuit tin transfer policy. You've only got Jota and Tierney back because one is never fit enough to play and the other can't get a game outside Scotland. Who's next? Matt O'Riley? Or maybe you'll get Kyogo back in the summer after he's failed to cut it in France.”
But Sean McGarvey, Cumbernauld, said: “You really need to laugh at the desperado Rangers fans calling the hotline to belittle Celtic’s transfer business. It’s like a homeless guy slagging your curtains. Enjoy watching Celtic in the Champions League from a distance, you should be used to it by now.”
Gerry McDonald Kirkintilloch, said: “You’d have to tip your hat to the callers slagging off Celtic for doing things correctly in bringing terrific players to the club, while their team continue to shop at Poundland. They are undoubtedly colourful. They have green eyes, blue noses, and great big red necks. See you in the rear-view mirror, chaps. We welcome the chase!”
Meanwhile Ianis Hagi could be a free agent in the summer and Jimmy Mac, Glasgow, said: “This is typical Rangers FC and lack of football business knowledge where expiring contracts are concerned. Patrick Stewart needs to get Hagi in for talks asap or face losing millions – yet again."
Stuart Kettlewell standing down at Motherwell due to his family getting abuse has shocked punters. Frank Jackson, via email, said: I absolutely feel sorry that a decent man and manager has been hounded out of his job by so called supporters of Motherwell. What are their expectations? They are and always will be a club that will struggle to be top six, and a decent cup run is all they should expect. Kettlewell provided all the above and they abused him and his family – shameful.”
Peter Copperwhite emailed: “It’s a sad day for our game that a manager has to resign because moronic fans target his family. What manager is going to take this post up knowing if it goes pear-shaped their family is going to be in the firing line?"
Duncan McDougall, Greenock, said: “I hope Kettlewell gets another team to manage soon – and his efforts are appreciated.”
