West Ham have confirmed Nikola Vlasic has joined Torino on a season-long loan deal with an option to make the move permanent next summer.

A £25.7m signing less than a year ago, Vlasic made only six Premier League starts last season, scoring just once across 36 appearances for the club.

Torino are thought to have agreed a fee of around €15m, representing a big loss for West Ham.

The arrival of Mawel Cornet pushed the 24-year-old further down the pecking order as David Moyes continues to try and strengthen his squad after a frustrating summer.

While the club have sealed big deals for Nayef Aguerd and Gianluca Scamacca, they have watched targets such as Jesse Lingard, Conor Coady and Amadou Onana move elsewhere, with Moyes calling for more additions.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thilo Kehrer has emerged as Moyes’ leading defensive target but Sevilla could offer stiff competition.

Vlasic’s exit marks the second player to leave the London Stadium this week following Issa Diop’s move to Fulham.
