'There is no chance' - Kris Boyd makes one thing absolutely clear about Rangers

Kris Boyd insists there's NO chance of Rangers mounting a sensational title comeback this season.

Crisis-hit Gers are a staggering 11 points adrift of runaway leaders Celtic who are on course for a record-equalling 55th league crown. Aberdeen's draw away to Hibs last night means the third-placed Light Blues have the chance to claw back ground on the Dons, who are nine points above having played an additional game.

And it's the battle for second spot that Boyd sees as the Ibrox club's biggest fight as under-pressure Philippe Clement continues to cling onto his job in the Govan hotseat. He told Sky Sports: "I think you can write off Rangers mounting a title challenge this season, it's been really, really poor so far.

"For anybody still speaking about a title race in Scotland, there is absolutely no chance, Rangers have got a fight on their hands with Aberdeen to finish second.

"They (Rangers) need to worry about themselves. The performances need to get better and they need to start picking up points on a regular basis because it's not good enough. Celtic are in a really good place and Aberdeen for me will fight it out with Rangers for second place."

While Rangers have struggled domestically, their European form has been impressive having lost just one of their four games. Gers face a difficult trip to French outfit Nice tomorrow night but Boyd wouldn't be surprised to see them get a result.

He added: "When you look at Rangers form in the league, it's been really poor. But in Europe they've been very good. It wouldn't surprise me if Rangers go to France tomorrow and get something.

"The game is played at a slower tempo and they have got players that are very good on the ball and make things happen. But in Scotland for whatever reason, it's just not working. Europe is a bonus and Rangers need to improve domestically."
