Steve Kean has insisted he is under no pressure to sell players

Steve Kean insists he is under no pressure to sell key players as Blackburn prepare for life in the npower Championship.

Last season's top scorer Ayegbeni Yakubu completed his move to Chinese club Guangzhou R&F for an undisclosed fee on Friday evening and highly-rated winger Junior Hoilett is out of contract, but Kean believes the signings of Danny Murphy and Leon Best offer a clear indication of Rovers' ambition.

"Players will be signed and players will leave but there's no pressure to sell, no pressure on having to raise funds to make signings," he said.

"The terms and conditions of Danny's contract were very competitive as you would imagine if there's two Premier League clubs in for him.

"There's one player that has (asked to leave) and I would rather keep that private, but there's only one. Every other player that I've spoken to wants to stay, wants to be part of it."

On Hoilett's situation, Kean added: "We find ourselves in not a great position with Junior Hoilett, who only signed a two-year contract when it should have been more a couple of years ago, but we are where we are. We're not sure how that will pan out."
