Inverness Caledonian Thistle claim no vote against Rangers has brought club and fans together

Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron believes the rejection of newco Rangers into the Clydesdale Bank Premier League has re-energised his club's relationship with its supporters.

A vote by Scottish Premier League clubs saw Charles Green's newco Rangers rejected entry into the top flight with Inverness one of the clubs to vote against the Ibrox side.

Cameron reckons the unity of the club and its fans has helped the relationship between the two, urging supporters to purchase season tickets now the matter is sorted.

He said: "The newco debate actually created a re-energised relationship between the club and our fans, so it's important to build on that.

"We took on board their comments, with all the potential financial uncertainty that was attached to that decision, and we now need those who were refuseniks until we voted no to newco to come forward and do what they promised, as season ticket income is the lifeblood of a community club like ours."

Cameron hopes Scottish football can now move on from the Rangers situation and use the fall-out as a way of galvanising the sport.

"Now that the SPL decision has been taken, and we have voted in accordance with clearly-expressed wishes of the vast majority of our sponsors, season-ticket holders and supporters on the issue, it is time to move on," he said.

"There is now common determination to improve the future from the uncertainty of the last few months. Time is not on our side with the league programme scheduled to start on August 4 but there is certainly time to lay down the foundations for change.

"We all have a collective responsibility for our national game - and by that we mean the clubs, fans, sponsors not forgetting our friends in the media.

"We are all stake-holders in something that is close to our hearts but its demise is not something any of us would wish. We need to work together to ensure a bright future for the game and by all pulling in the one direction this is achievable."
