Frenzel picked up six victories on the way to the Crystal Globe last season and made it seven from 11 in Finland as he powered around the cross country leg to win by 3.5seconds.

With the individual event swapping days with the team event and the provisional competition round acting as the jumping results, Frenzel started the ski in fourth.

He earned 123.4 points for his jump with Evgeniy Klimov leading the way although the Russian was to finish well down as German Frenzel came to the fore.

Frenzel finished with an overall time of 28:34.9minutes to keep three Norwegians at bay, Joergen Graabak the best of them as he placed second 3.5 behind.

Magnus Krog was third, 6.9 adrift in total, while Mikko Kokslien was the last of the Norwegian trio in fourth place with Jason Lamy Chappuis in fifth.
