Nottingham Forest have agreed deals with Liverpool and Bayern Munich to sign Neco Williams alongside Omar Richards, according to a trusted source.

Williams can leave Liverpool this summer after the Reds brought in Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen. Jurgen Klopp’s senior right-back options are Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez, so Williams doesn’t really have a place in the squad.

The Wales international spent last season on loan at Fulham, who went on to win the Championship title.

There were negotiations between Fulham and Liverpool over a permanent deal for Williams.

But Nottingham Forest need a replacement for Djed Spence, who will likely join Tottenham, and resultantly began targeting Williams.

According to John Percy of The Telegraph, Steve Cooper’s team are ‘set to sign’ Williams. They will pay Liverpool £17m, with the capture regarded as a ‘huge statement’.

Forest are also getting closer to announcing Richards’ arrival from Bayern. He will cost £8.5m.

As per Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Forest and the German giants are in the final stages.

Forest close to Neco Williams, Richards signings

Forest are yet to agree personal terms with Richards, although this is unlikely to cause a problem.

The Reds were looking at Sheffield United left wing-back Max Lowe previously. He spent last season on loan at the City Ground and made 20 Championship appearances, helping Forest gain promotion to the top flight.

As the Blades already have Enda Stevens and Rhys Norrington-Davies on the left flank, they could have let Lowe go.

But Forest never matched United’s asking price and he is now likely to remain in South Yorkshire for the upcoming campaign.

Both United and Forest have completed centre-back signings in recent days. Paul Heckingbottom’s side pulled off a transfer coup by landing Anel Ahmedhodžić from Malmo.

Forest, meanwhile, have brought in Moussa Niakhate from Mainz. The Frenchman cost an initial £8.5m, which could rise to £12.7m – as per Romano.

Meanwhile, Cooper has reacted to the signing of Niakhate by heaping praise on some of the defender’s best attributes.
