Nottingham Forest help Felipe fulfil dreams, as fourth January signing puts pen to paper
Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Felipe from Atletico Madrid, and the centre-back says he’s realised a “dream” through the move.
Forest are no strangers to signing players from big clubs. They have done so on multiple occasions since their return to the top flight.
Jesse Lingard was perhaps the biggest, with Renan Lodi also coming from one of Europe’s best.
While the route from Atletico Madrid to Nottingham isn’t one that’s travelled all too often, it’s now happened twice in a couple of transfer windows.
Indeed, Lodi’s compatriot, Felipe, has now joined him at the City Ground, following confirmation by Forest.
The club’s announcement does not contain any details on the fee they have paid to Atletico.
However, Forest have confirmed that they will gain the services of the centre-back until the summer of 2024.
They will no doubt hope the experience of Felipe will stand them in good stead. Indeed, he has played 113 times for Atletico, as well as playing seven seasons of Champions League football across spells at Atletico and Porto.
Premier League move a dream for Felipe
Felipe has achieved some great feats during his career. At international level, has played for his country on more than one occasion.
That’s on top of featuring in European competition for a number of seasons, and winning La Liga in 2020/21.
However, the move to Forest has helped him to realise another dream – playing in the Premier League.
“It was a dream of mine to play in the Premier League and I’m really excited to be part of this wonderful, fast-growing club,” he said via the Nottingham Forest website.
“You can see it’s a club looking to really grow. It’s a big challenge for me and I made a clear decision to be part of the history here and grow with the club.”
