A €10m joint bid for Real Betis duo Alex Moreno and William Carvalho from Nottingham Forest has been rejected out of hand, claims a report.

Forest have already hit double figures with the new recruits this season. The newly-promoted club cannot be accused of standing still with the likes of Jesse Lingard, Neco Williams and Taiwo Awoniyi all arriving.

Steve Cooper always promised a “turnaround with the squad” and he has delivered that. And with a week to go before the start of the season Cooper remains keen on adding more new faces.

“Of course we need more players to come in, there’s no doubt about that. That’s slowed down a little bit, and we’ve got to make sure that doesn’t stay like that for too long,” he said earlier this month.

And according to ABC Sevilla, via Sport Witness Forest have put in a cheeky double bid in for the left-sided Moreno and midfielder Carvalho.

Forest have already seen a double move successful this summer after finally landing Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo from Huddersfield. Forest paid the Terriers £10m for the duo and they are believed to have lodged a similar offer to Betis.

The City Ground outfit have been linked with the pair previously and through agents they are now said to have made a €10m joint bid. That has been “rejected outright” by Betis, who value the pair highly.

Fulham interest in Moreno

The offer was “insufficient” after the performances of the pair last season. The experienced Carvalho, 30, played 49 times last season, while Moreno, 29, made 45 appearances.

Exactly what sort of fees Betis are looking for is unclear, but Forest seem miles away.

Fulham were showing big interest in Moreno earlier this month, according to AS. And the Premier League newcomers were willing to pay €15m (£12.8m) for the Spaniard.

As for Carvalho, he has been linked with some big teams over the last few years, but unlike Moreno, whose deal runs until 2025, his contract expires next June.

That could give Forest a key bargaining chip. Still, the former Sporting star has been capped 73 times by Portugal and would be a more than useful pick up by Forest.
