Reigning NRL champions Sydney Roosters ended Parramatta Eels' perfect start to the 2020 season with a 24-10 victory.
The Roosters, who have triumphed in the previous two Grand Finals, have now won four on the bounce to mark an excellent recovery from the back-to-back defeats they suffered in the opening two games.
Trent Robinson's side prevailed in a thrilling contest in Sydney despite surrendering an 8-0 half-time lead to trail 10-8 with less than 20 minutes left.
Brett Morris touched down for the only try of a first half in which Kyle Flanagan added another four points with the boot.
But the Eels, in confident mood following five consecutive wins, roared back into the contest after the break, Michael Jennings' score making him only the 13th player to reach 150 NRL tries.
Maika Sivo then steamrollered James Tedesco en route to a converted score that left the Roosters playing catch-up.
However, even with Tedesco sidelined, the Roosters rose to the challenge. Boyd Cordner and Daniel Tupou crossed, with Flanagan kicking another eight points to settle matters.
Wests Tigers produced a dominant first-half showing to down North Queensland Cowboys 36-20.
The Tigers ran in six tries to rack up 34 unanswered points before the break, with the Cowboys restoring some respectability in the second half.
Zane Musgrove, who later went off injured, set the tone with the opening try in the first minute. Joseph Leilua, Luke Brooks, Josh Aloiai, Robert Jennings and Moses Mbye also touched down.
A spirited reply after the interval, led by Kyle Feldt's double, cut the deficit but the Cowboys still slipped to a third loss in a row.
In Saturday's other fixture, Gold Coast Titans' miserable season continued with a 20-8 loss to St George Illawarra Dragons.
The Titans sit bottom after just one win from six games, while the Dragons have now won two on the bounce after falling to defeat in their first four.
