The NTA for Serial Drama goes to EastEnders

The final award of the night went to EastEnders, the London set soap opera that first aired in 1985.

The stage was packed as the Watford Square regulars accepted the award. Tonight marks the 12th time that EastEnders has won in the category of Serial Drama.

And that's it - for this year at least. After a mammoth awards show that has only slightly overrun, it's time to choose another TV show to tune into.

As was the case for Young Sheldon, many of the cast and crew of the Netflix smash hit Addams Family spin-off starring Jenna Ortega were unable to attend the NTAs due to the Hollywood actors' and writers' strikes.

However, Moosa Mostafa, who plays Eugene Ottinger on the show, was available to accept the award, though he confessed that he had to be back at school in two days for the new term.

The Repair Shop beats This Morning to win Daytime NTA

In a major NTA upset, The Repair Shop has taken the award for Daytime programme.

This Morning had been the winner of this award for the last 12 years running, but following a major scandal involving Phillip Schofield, the titan of morning programming has been knocked off the top spot.

Presenter Jay Blades accepted the award, and took a photo of the audience ahead of his speech to help him remember the moment.

Young Sheldon cast and crew avoid NTAs over Hollywood strikes

Young Sheldon just won the NTA for the Comedy category, but none of the cast and crew turned up to accept the award.

This is because of the Hollywood actors' and writers' strikes currently taking place over demands for fairer pay, a better deal on residuals, and more protection against artificial intelligence.

More than 100,000 people are taking part in the strikes which have caused major productions including Emily in Paris and Stranger Things.

The NTA Comedy award goes to... Young Sheldon

US sitcom and Big Bang Theory prequel Young Sheldon starring Iain Armitage and Jim Parsons won the NTA for Comedy.

Due to the ongoing Hollywood actors' and writers' strikes, the cast and crew of the series were not present to accept the award and did not send a recorded message.

Host Joel Dommett accepted the award on their behalf and promised to make sure it made its way to the crew.

She has worked along celebrated stars including Dawn French, Ian McKellen, Richard Gere, and William Roache.

What is the Special Recognition award?

More curious about what the NTAs Special Recognition Award is than who is this year's recipient.?

Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs wins NTA for Factual programme

Davina McCall announced that the late great Paul O'Grady's popular series For the Love of Dogs won the NTA in the factual category.

Paul O'Grady, who passed away earlier this year, was honoured earlier in the programme with a career highlights reel.

Representatives from Battersea Dogs Home, of which Paul was a vocal supporter, accepted the award on the star's behalf.

Don't swear Davina!

Benjamin forgot how much he enjoys watching Davina McCall present. It makes him want to go and rewatch 'Streetdate' followed by the zombie horror series 'Dead Set.' You know, the one where a zombie outbreak occurs but no one in the Big Brother house knows what's going on?

Davina played herself... and a zombie...
