In numbers: Super League Rivals Round attendances

A total of 62,531 spectators attended a fixture during Rivals Round in the Super League.

The six fixtures saw an average attendance of 10,421. That’s a 2,252 increase on the previous round and the highest so far this season.

St Helens enjoy sell out crowd

St Helens enjoyed a sell-out crowd for their Good Friday clash with Wigan at the Totally Wicked Stadium. 17,980 fans enjoyed the spectacle, with the champions claiming a 22-4 victory.

Saints, who have won three Grand Finals in a row, have gone two points clear of the Warriors and Catalans in the table.

First French derby

Super League’s first ever French derby saw an attendance of 8,922 in Perpignan on Thursday. Steve McNamara’s side claimed an 18-10 victory, despite going down to 12-men in the second half. Toulouse sit at the bottom of the Super League table with just one win, while the Dragons jumped to second. Sylvain Houles’ side host Hull KR on Easter Monday. Catalans travel to Salford.

Big crowd for Hull derby

There were two sell-outs on Good Friday, as the early kick-off saw a crowd of 10,300 inside Craven Park. Lachlan Coote scored 12 points in his first Hull derby that saw his side claim a 16-4 victory over their close rivals. Ryan Hall crossed for his 217th Super League try.

Thursday night crowds

Warrington recorded an attendance of 8,486 for their home clash with Salford at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Daryl Powell’s side put an end to their losing streak with a 32-18 score over the Red Devils.

Castleford Tigers took their winning run over rivals Wakefield Trinity to 17 matches as they won comfortably 34-4 at Belle Vue. A crowd of 5,557 attending this one.

Finally, 11,286 supporters witnessed the first draw in the 2022 Super League campaign. The Rhinos were 20-10 up until the 78th minute when Luke Yates pulled one back for the Giants. And then in the final minute Innes Senior went over for Ian Watson’s side to send the game into golden point extra-time. Headingley Stadium saw a crowd of 11,286.

A total of 413,174 supporters have attended a top flight game of rugby league in 2022.
