Super League attendances dropped to another new low for the 2022 season over the weekend.

A total of 38,578 supporters attended a game during Round 15, giving an average of 6,429 across the six fixtures.

The previous round had recorded the lowest average attendance so far. However, the latest round of action fell just slightly below last week’s figures.

St Helens record highest attendance

St Helens saw the highest attendance, with 9,858 at the Totally Wicked Stadium. James Roby broke records, making his 455th Super League appearance. He surpassed Kevin Sinfield’s previous all-time record of 454 appearance. His Saints side defeated Hull KR 26-18, with Roby crossing for a try on his milestone appearance.

It’s the second consecutive week where an attendance has failed to record more than 10,000.

Toulouse saw the lowest attendance of the round with 3,326. Sylvain Houles’ side hosted Castleford Tigers, and it was the visitors who caused heartbreak for the hosts as Mahe Fonua scored the match-winner for a 20-14 result.

Wakefield recorded an attendance of 3,891 for their clash against Warrington on Sunday at Belle Vue. Despite taking the lead four times, Daryl Powell’s side fell to their fifth straight defeat in Super League.

8,847 supporters were in Perpignan as Catalans defeated Hull 36-8. The Dragons scoring through Fouad Yaha, Mickael Goudemand, Samisoni Langi, Mitchell Pearce and Tyrone May.

Huddersfield recorded their highest attendances of the season so far with 6,712 at the John Smith’s Stadium. Ian Watson’s side claimed a 30-16 victory over Leeds on Friday.

It was another new high, this time for Salford as 5,944 attended the AJ Bell Stadium for their home clash with Wigan. The game was also broadcast live on Sky Sports. Wigan scored 24-points in the second half for a 30-12 victory, scoring through Harry Smith, Liam Marshall (2) and a hat-trick from Bevan French.
