In numbers: Super League Round 17 attendances

A total of 45,338 supporters attended a Super League fixture during Round 16.

That’s an average attendance of 7,556 across the six fixtures – a 1,163 fall compared to the previous round.

Catalans Dragons enjoyed their highest attendance of the season so far. 10,260 saw them claim a 20-18 victory over St Helens in Perpignan on Saturday night.

It’s the first time the club has recorded a five-figure attendance this Super League season. Their next best attendance came during Round 12, with 9,307 against Warrington. The Dragons have an average attendance of 8,105 so far in 2022.

Elsewhere in Super League

Hull recorded the highest attendance of the weekend, with 10,360 at the MKM Stadium. However, the home crowd saw their side concede 62 points to Rohan Smith’s Leeds on Saturday afternoon. The Rhinos ran in 11 tries, with Ash Handley crossing for five of them.

3,441 saw Toulouse claim their third win of the Super League season with a 28-6 score over Hull KR. The Robins have since departed ways with head coach Tony Smith, with assistant Danny McGuire taking charge until the end of the season.

It was also a season-high for Wakefield, with 7,046 in attendance for their home clash with Wigan. Willie Poching side fell to a 46-22 defeat to the Challenge Cup winners.

Friday night’s televised game between Castleford and Huddersfield had a crowd of 5,672. The home crowd at the Mend-A-Hose were treated to a 26-18 victory over Ian Watson’s side.

Finally, 8,559 fans attended the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday. Warrington gave away a 24-8 lead in the second half to fall to a 32-24 defeat to Salford Red Devils.  Two tries from Jack Ormondroyd in the final 10 minutes saw Paul Rowley’s side edge ahead, before Ryan Brierley sealed the victory on 76 minutes.
