In numbers: Super League Round 20 attendances

A total of 45,182 supporters attended a Super League fixture during Round 20.

That’s an average of 7,530 across the six Super League fixtures – an increase of 406 compared to the previous round.

Leeds Rhinos enjoyed a crowd of 13,368 for their return to Headingley Stadium against Wigan on Thursday. Rohan Smith’s side claimed a dominant 42-12 victory over the Warriors. It was the side’s first home game in 62 days, having last played in Leeds on May 20 against Wakefield.

The Rhinos have recorded impressive attendances so far in 2022 – 14,190 saw their last home fixture against Trinity, their highest of the season so far. The club have also recorded attendances of 14,135 (v Warrington), 14,083 (v St Helens) and 13,333 (v Hull KR). 

Elsewhere in Super League

Hull FC recorded the next best attendance with 9,550 for their televised clash against Castleford. Returning for the first time as an opposition coach, Lee Radford took away the spoils with a 46-18 victory.

7,551 saw Hull KR complete a late comeback to secure a win at the Halliwell Jones Stadium over Warrington. Daryl Powell’s side had led 22-12 with 15 minutes to go until Matt Parcell, Ethan Ryan and Sam Royle crossed in front of the travelling supporters.

Toulouse recorded the lowest attendance of the round with 3,706 against Salford. Paul Rowley’s Red Devils claimed a play-off spot in sixth place following a hard-fought 24-11.

French neighbours Catalans saw an attendance of 6,845 for their clash against Huddersfield in Perpignan. Sam Tomkins kicked a late drop-goal for a 13-12 score that saw the Dragons end their losing streak.

Wakefield recorded a crowd of 4,162 for their home clash against St Helens. A golden point drop-goal from Jack Welsby snatched victory over a desperate Trinity, who remain at the bottom of the Super League table.

A total of 953,623 supporters have attended a top flight game of rugby league in 2022.
