A total of 40,821 supporters attended a Super League fixture during Round 21.
That’s an average of 6,803 across the six Super League fixtures – a 727 decrease on the previous round.
It is only 374 better than the lowest round of the Super League season so far – an average of 6,429 during Round 15.
Wigan were the only team to register an attendance higher than 10,000 during the latest round of action. The DW Stadium side hosted a crowd of 11,032 for their televised Thursday night clash against Hull KR.
Matt Peet’s Warriors claimed a comfortable 46-4 victory on the night, including hat-tricks for both Bevan French and Liam Marshall.
Elsewhere in Super League
Salford recorded their highest attendance of the season so far – and it came alongside a great result for Paul Rowley’s men. 6,041 attended the AJ Bell Stadium on Sunday, with Salford claiming a 44-12 victory over St Helens. Until this weekend, Salford’s best attendance came during Round 15 against Wigan – 5,944.
Meanwhile, Castleford Tigers recorded an attendance of 6,796 against derby rivals Wakefield on Friday. Willie Poching’s side moved off the bottom of the table following the 32-6 victory, televised live on Sky Sports.
Catalans Dragons saw an attendance of 8,165 for their dramatic clash against Leeds Rhinos, Rohan Smith’s side fought from 30-6 down to claim the victory during golden point. Aidan Sezer the hero for the visitors in Perpignan.
4,549 attended the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday as Huddersfield defeated Warrington.
French outfit Toulouse also played at home and recorded an attendance of 4,238 for their 30-6 home defeat to Hull FC on Friday. The loss, their 16th of the season, saw Sylvain Houles’ side fall to the bottom of the Super League table once again.
A total of 994,444 supporters have attended a top flight game of rugby league in 2022.
