Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo hopes injured duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson will return for Nottingham Forest’s clash with Ipswich Town next weekend.

The pair were not in the match squad at the Emirates Stadium as the Reds’ 3-0 defeat to Arsenal brought their unbeaten away run to an end. Goals from Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey and Ethan Nwaneri condemned Forest to successive defeats on the back of their 3-1 loss to Newcastle United before the international break.

Gibbs-White was feeling the effects of the ankle injury he picked up against Chelsea last month, and Anderson has been struggling with a foot problem in recent weeks.

“Morgan had a nasty injury against Chelsea. Before the international break, him and Elliot made a big effort to help the team and they did that,” Nuno said.

“Both of them were not in the right condition to help the team this week. Hopefully for the next one.”

The Reds also saw Anthony Elanga pick up a knock in the capital. The winger needed treatment towards the end of the first half, and although he carried on initially he was replaced at the break.

“He is in a lot of pain. We have to wait for the scan. I don’t know what it is exactly but he was not able to continue,” Nuno added.

Forest are at home to the Tractor Boys next Saturday (3pm kick-off). After that, they have back-to-back away games against Manchester City and Manchester United.
