Nuno Espirito Santo insists Nottingham Forest's impressive start to the season is not a surprise to those within the club. The team will face Arsenal on Saturday, currently standing level with the Gunners on points.

With 19 points from their first 11 games, Forest sit in fifth place and Nuno insists this does not exceed his expectations for the early part of the season.

He said: "What I expect and what the players give to us is total commitment to do things right. From the outside this can be surprising but for us, no. We work with them every day. We know the quality and the talent and we demand a lot from them."

Forest's most significant result so far was a 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, which should boost their confidence as they prepare to play at the Emirates. However, Nuno acknowledged that Arsenal presents a different challenge.

"The performance, definitely," he said. "The tactical approach will be different because the opponent is not the same. Arsenal play in a very specific way that we have to really control them. But it’s a new approach because it’s a new team.

Arsenal's reputation for strong set-piece play is well-known, but the Reds have significantly improved their defence in this area. After a poor record last season, where only Burnley fared worse, Forest managed to go ten games without conceding from a set-piece until their recent 3-1 defeat to Newcastle.

"The first step was the awareness of the players that understand that we needed to improve on that aspect and their involvement was massive, they put some effort on that – many hours on the training ground," Nuno explained. "The last game was not so good but the effort is with the players and they deserve credit."

Nuno will assess several players returning from international duty before deciding his lineup for Saturday's game. Murillo, who received his first Brazil call-up, didn't make his debut despite travelling for matches against Venezuela and Uruguay. When asked if this was disappointing, Nuno said: "I don’t think so, and neither for him. We have to be proud of our players who went with their national teams.

"To be involved in the national team of Brazil shows the quality he has. He has to be patient and wait for his chance. But we are delighted he was involved."
