Snooker: O'Sullivan could skip 'boring' World Championship

Ronnie O'Sullivan said he may not bother going for a sixth title at the Crucible, as the Hustle is a "right laugh".

Ronnie O'Sullivan could miss the "boring" World Championship at the Crucible next year to film television show the Hustle.

Five-time world champion O'Sullivan is one of the big draws for the tournament in Sheffield, where he has entertained packed crowds with his mercurial talent over the years.

The 42-year-old Englishman could disappoint his supporters in April and May, though, by filming in Australia rather than gracing the green baize in South Yorkshire.

Asked on Twitter if he was serious about potentially skipping the most prestigious snooker tournament on the calendar, O'Sullivan replied: "I might do.. crucible goes on too long .. and it's my least fav event of all.. plus I've got plenty ranking points so no need to play as much."

When another follower asked if he was joking, O'Sullivan wrote: "No mate do I sound like I’m joking .. you gotta be smart with what you do and don't do in life."

On the prospect of missing the World Championship, he added: "Why not making hustle is a right laugh crucible is boring plus I've ticked that box 5X."
