Arsenal and West Ham have both expressed an interest in signing Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Zinchenko had put discussions over his future on hold until now, with his full focus being on Ukraine’s push to qualify for the World Cup.

They were beaten in their play-off final by Wales yesterday and now clubs are hoping to learn what the 25-year-old’s next move will be. Arsenal and West Ham are both interested in Zinchenko, who has struggled to secure a starting spot at the Etihad.

Both sides are attracted to the idea of the Ukrainian being able to play in midfield or at left-back, with City unlikely to stand in his way if he demands a move.

Arsenal are thought to be offering Zinchenko the chance to play more games in midfield, while West Ham want to sign a left-back this summer to provide competition for Aaron Cresswell, with the club ready to let Arthur Masuaku leave.

Hammers boss David Moyes is also desperate to add substantial midfield reinforcements beyond Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice, following the retirement of club captain Mark Noble and the end of Alex Kral’s unsuccessful loan spell. The Scot failed with a £50million bid for Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips in January and is also interested in Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse.

Moyes is set to receive significant backing in this summer’s window after securing a second successive season of European football, but is keen to make significant improvements in terms of depth as well as quality to cope with the congested fixture list.
