Tottenham are due to do battle with Leicester City in their Premier League opener on Monday night (8pm).

As the clock ticks down to that curtain-raiser, meanwhile, the two clubs have already worked together on a deal. Oliver Skipp has swapped Tottenham for the King Power Stadium in a £25million transfer.

Skipp, 23, had been with the north Londoners man and boy. He first signed for Tottenham as a youngster in 2008, making his first-team debut for the club a decade later - totting-up 106 games for Tottenham overall.

The defensive midfielder added one goal and two assists in that time. Skipp also previously spent time on loan at Norwich City and is now gearing up for a new adventure away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Skipp, who has won 24 caps for England U21s, made 24 appearances last season. However, they mostly came as a subsitute and, in turn, he was inked in for a permanent exit this summer.

His departure will free up space in the Tottenham squad and also count as pure profit in PSR terms. As for his new club, Leicester, the midfielder will provide additional top-flight experience as they aim to stave off relegation after the Foxes returned to the big time, with Tottenham incidentally first up for Leicester in the Premier League charge.

But that match will come too soon to offer up a dream debut for Skipp. The now-former Tottenham man is unable to feature in front of the Sky Sports cameras at the King Power Stadium tonight (8pm).

That's because players had to be registered by 12pm on Friday, August 16 to be involved in the first game week. He didn't formally put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with the Foxes until Monday afternoon.
